Sandhill County Shawl Pattern - Digital Download

by Christina Campbell, the Healthy Knitter and Sharyn Anhalt, GingerSnap Designs

Introducing a very special collaborative pattern designed by Christina Campbell and Sharyn Anhalt (GingerSnap) for the 2019 International Day of Peace. This day was established in 1981 by the United Nations to promote peace around the world. And what better way to celebrate than to knit a design themed on peace. Through this pattern design, we’ve chosen to honor the Sandhill Crane, a majestic bird that faces challenges to migration due to a changing environment. Each year these birds migrate up to 6000 miles (each way) to their nesting grounds. This tribute to the cranes seemed only fitting, as the theme for the 2019 International Day of Peace is climate action.

Enjoy this garter stitch shawl knit on the bias with lace insets and a fancy little edging to capture the beauty of these very special cranes. Finished dimensions are 75 inch wingspan and 22 inches tall.

YARN: Approximately 700 yds (640 m) for MC and 320 yds (295 m) for CC of fingering weight yarn. You will also need a US size 6 circular needle at least 32" long, stitch markers, and a darning needle. The lace pattern is both charted and written.

Kits are also available! A link to download this pattern will be emailed to you after completing checkout.
