Bachi Ball Shawl Pattern - Digital Download

by Sharyn Anhalt, GingerSnap Designs

Using one ball each of Noro Bachi and Kanzashi this oversized, asymmetrical triangle shawl works up quickly on US size 13 needles. Garter ridges of boucle-like Kanzashi contrast with the smooth stockinette of Bachi creating both a color and textural feast for the senses, while wrapping you in pure warmth. Since the colors of Bachi and Kanzashi are consistent, each kit pairs the identical color of each yarn.

Sample was knit with color 06 Tanabe. Pattern is suitable for beginning knitters comfortable with simple increases and decreases.

Materials:

Yarn A: Noro Bachi, one ball (200 gr/ 264 yds)

Yarn B: Noro Kanzashi, one ball (150 gr/232 yds)

Sample shown in color 06 Tanabe (both yarns) Kits are available here!

US size 13 circular needle, at least 32” long to accommodate the width of the shawl – or size needed for gauge.

Finished dimensions:

75” wingspan and 28” depth at deepest point

Gauge: Each 4 row pattern repeat should measure about 1 inch after blocking. Gauge is not critical since this is a shawl, but it will affect your finished size. When knitting a shawl in a lengthwise direction like this one, your row gauge is more important for the finished wingspan than your stitch gauge. The fabric should be at a slightly loose gauge to allow the shawl to drape without being stiff. If you are a tight knitter, you may need to go up a needle size.
