All workshops are suitable for adventurous beginner knitters and up.

($240 if purchased separately)

Saturday June 24th, 1-4pm                                          $75 (limit 15)

Experience the magic of modular knitting with Stephen. Learn how to seamlessly build modular fabrics by picking up stitches for multi-directional knitting. You will also learn Stephen's shortcut rows.
Bring 3 colors of worsted weight wool and a US 8 circular needle to practice. We will create a small sampler swatch using the modular techniques in the Vertices Unite design, a copy of which will be included with the workshop. Once you master the modular knitting skills, you’ll be ready to cast on for Vertices Unite. There will be time to shop for colors during class, or bring your colors so Stephen can help you decide where to place them in the pattern. We will practice the skills in class required for this shawl so that you will be confident to knit the beautiful Vertices Unite design.

Saturday June 24th, 6-8pm             $15

Registration includes your choice of an individual Westknits pattern for FREE! Choose a Westknits design, and shop for yarn with Stephen’s personal expertise! Stephen will also display and describe his many design samples. Autographed copies of Westknits Best Knits pattern book will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served. Register soon, as attendance is limited!

Sunday June 25th, 10am-1pm                            $75 (limit 12)

Explore the world of two color brioche with the King of Brioche! This workshop will guide you through an I-cord cast on as we knit the brioche Top Knot Hat and learn essential brioche techniques, including increasing and decreasing. You’ll leave the workshop with not only the start to a cute hat, but all the knowledge you’ll need to knit any of Stephen’s brioche designs.

This workshop will dive right into two color brioche, so you should have some introductory experience with brioche. But brioche virgins, never fear - a tutorial will be emailed to you before the workshop, and we’ll hold a special study session at 9am that morning to review basic brioche technique.

Materials: At least 2 high contrast colors of a worsted weight wool (non-superwash wools work best). For example, bring black and white or dark blue and bright yellow. You will also need a 16” US 8 / 5mm circular or you can substitute a longer circular needle length like 40" or 47" using the Magic Loop Method. The pattern will be provided.

Sunday June 25th, 3-6pm                      $75 (limit 15)

Come experience the colorful world of Westknits and learn all about Stephen's marled tricks for combining multiple yarns. We will experiment with holding 2 strands of yarn together to create fabrics that look like painted works of art. Choose between Stephen's Marled Magic shawl or soon-to-be-released Marled Magic Sweater, or any other Westknits marled design! Patterns will be available for purchase.

You will need a colorful pile of small bits of fingering weight yarns and a US 8 circular needle to begin Marled Magic. You should have at least 7-10 colors; for example, bring shades of blue or create a warm color palette with pinks, oranges, and reds. If you want a super colorful shawl, bring all colors to stripe and play! Lace weight mohair yarns are also highly encouraged. YarnScout will also provide some bits and scraps of fingering weight yarns for you to play!

All events will be held at YarnScout in our upstairs lounge; sorry, there is no elevator. Please provide both your email address & phone number when registering online, so we may contact you if needed prior to the event. Workshop registration fees are non-refundable, but please let us know if your plans change as we may be able to find someone to take your place.
