Congratulations to our January KAL winners - Pam, Quinton, and Nancy! Great job tackling the marled, fade "Scrappy Thing" challenge. Here's a photo of my completed scarf/shawl, using mostly Hedgehog fingering weights, edged with Hedgehog Merino Aran I-Cord.
Time for a new challenge! The next shop KAL begins now and will run through March 31st. Choose to knit either of these speckled fade designs, Westknits Dotted Rays Speckled Fade or Drea Renee Knits Find your Fade. Both take advantage of the unique speckled colorways from Hedgehog Fibres. Your challenge is to combine yarns in ways you'd never expect!
If you're new to large multi color shawls, I highly recommend choosing Westknits Dotted Rays. He writes very clear instructions, and the knitting is easy yet interesting. More advanced knitters may wish to tackle Find Your Fade; it includes lovely lace sections and an unusual shape. Both will shine with Hedgehog Fibres speckled colors in either Skinny Singles or Sock. You can combine those two base yarns in one project too! We find that using the speckled yarn maximizes the fade effect, without looking too stripey. We're here to help with color selection too! Stop by the shop or email us for assistance.
YarnScout is offering prizes for this KAL! To be eligible, post at least 2 times before March 31, 2017 in our KAL thread on Ravelry. Your posts should be as follows:
Your first post should be a description of the yarns you’ll be using and which ones you purchased at YarnScout, along with which pattern you will knit. We know a lot of you have a good stash of Hedgehog, so you don't need to purchase new yarn from us to be eligible for the prizes. Please post a picture of your yarn too! An easy way to insert pictures into your posts is to create a project in your Ravelry profile. You can easily link project pictures to posts by clicking on the image icon at the top while you are writing your new post. Don't forget to share your new project with the YarnScout Posse Group!
The second post should be a picture of your completed project. Tell us what you like and what you’ve learned! On March 31, 2017, we’ll randomly pick three knitters from those who have posted these two subjects to win $20 gift cards to YarnScout!
